Relevation brings investor matchmaking online

More than 250 people joined European tech funding summit Relevation to hear from industry experts, to network and to debate the issues facing the proptech industry today.

Hosted on Hopin, the digital gathering aimed to replicate a traditional physical business-to-business event as far as possible. There were:

• 262 attendees
• 190 offers from investors
• 382 meetings
• 6.4 meetings per user on average

The extensive programme featured 16 fireside chat interviews and eight conference sessions with a total of 45 speakers taking part in all.

Relevation, standing for real estate elevation, was organised by Idriss Goossens, founder of the Belgian network Proptech Lab and Proptech House, the European network.

Author and highly respected advisor, Dror Poleg, opened the two-day event with a global overview of the state of the venture landscape and how and why real estate buys tech – and why it sometimes does not.

Robbie Antonio, founder of modular housing unicorn Revolution Precrafted, was also among the proptech founders speaking during the online gathering of startups and investors. Other speakers included Faisal Butt, founder & CEO, Pi Labs, the influential and prolific proptech accelerator now on its eighth cohort; Gregory Dewerpe, founder, A/O PropTech, Europe’s largest proptech venture capital firm; Sonja Radovic, investment manager, APX, the Axel Springer Porsche Accelerator; Kevin Cardona, chief innovation officer, BNP Paribas Real Estate, advisor leading the way with technology adoption; and Phillipe Boyer, head of innovation, Covivio, Europe’s fourth-largest real estate investment trust with a €23bn portfolio.

Attendees logged in from all over the world. Among the tech companies represented were Symvio, Spaceflow, Revolt, Knotel, Ark Habitat, and Metr. Investors included Plug and Play, Bouwinvest, BNP Paribas, Cemex, Fifth Wall, M7 Structura, and Axel Springer.

Organiser Idriss Goossens said: “Organising such a digital fundraising summit, with the most important proptech investors of the world, in just three months was a challenge, but thanks to our amazing team we achieved it. Judging by the amazing positive feedback, it seems we over-performed and delivered a great event. I am proud of the team and looking forward to unveiling the next event. Such a digital platform of matchmaking between proptech startups and investors was needed in order to consolidate the proptech ecosystem.”
