The company that ‘gives homes a brain’ has acquired two UK solar energy businesses as it scales up the rollout of its net-zero energy products.

The Manchester-based home automation specialist acquired Durham-based Cleaner Air Solutions and its sister company Solar Monitoring & Maintenance as it seeks to lead the push towards net-zero buildings.

With its Wondrwall Energy brand, Wondrwall installs solar panels and a monitoring system that automates heating, lighting and the storage and sale of excess energy back to the grid. It previously worked with Cleaner Air Solutions as one of its main installation partners.

Bringing in both Cleaner Air Solutions, which specialises in the installation of commercial and domestic solar PV systems, and Solar Monitoring & Maintenance, which provides monitoring and maintenance, significantly expands Wondrwall’s in-house solar PV capabilities.

Daniel Burton, CEO of Wondrwall Group, said: “Using artificial intelligence and self-learning technology to maximise the cost and energy efficiencies of our solar PV and battery storage systems is such an integral component of Wondrwall’s net-zero solution.

“As part of our strategic growth plan this double acquisition places the rapidly expanding Wondrwall Group at the leading edge of UK organisations pushing towards net-zero buildings.”

Yvonne Kemp, who has joined Wondrwall as a director, said: “Cleaner Air Solutions has always been committed to researching and developing superior products and installation techniques, and this has made Cleaner Air Solutions the first choice for engineers, architects, house builders, local authorities and housing associations at all levels.

“Within Wondrwall, we saw that same desire for innovation and the need to deliver people’s energy requirements in an intelligent and socially just way.”

Wondrwall launched in 2018 after four years of development, with a self-learning heating, lighting and security system that adapts to users’ habits and routines. The Wondrwall Group now comprises several tech, service and installation firms, giving it a range of other products users can add to the system, such as battery storage and gas-free heating systems.

Cleaner Air Solutions and Solar Monitoring & Maintenance will commence trading as Wondrwall | Renewable Energy Solutions and Wonderwall | Maintenance & Monitoring with immediate effect.
