Nuuka, a Finnish proptech software company, has joined the Real Estate Core Consortium of property players targeting the emerging market for connected buildings.
Demand for sustainable, resilient, and remotely operated buildings is a major driver for today’s digitalisation of the real estate industry. But a portfolio’s different systems, interfaces, and protocols are making it hard to access, aggregate, and make use of the data.
“Healthy, smart buildings of the future require multiple systems such as lighting, access, space, and HVAC to work together in a concerted manner,” says Tuomas Pippola, CEO of Nuuka. “With cooperation, and by aligning execution, we can increase the speed of digitalisation in the real estate industry.”
Nuuka’s platform, Nuuka Connect, is currently in use in 3,000 buildings across six countries and is hosted on Microsoft Azure. The platform has more than 100 integrations, covering all major building automation systems and sensors on the market. In combination with offering integrations to REC, Nuuka will also align to the Azure Digital Twin 2.0 standard.
Customers include Edge Technologies, the Amsterdam-based trendsetter in smart offices, as well as the City of Helsinki, Finnish construction group Lapti, and Nordic real estate fund manager Genesta.
Real Estate Core Consortium was formed in 2017 to create an environment for cooperation and a common “language” to enable building owners to connect their buildings on a large scale. The consortium was formed with Vasakronan AB, Akademiska Hus AB, Idun Real Estate Solutions AB, Willhem AB, RISE, and the School of Engineering at Jönköping University, as the founders and main sponsors of the RealEstateCore project.
“We want to contribute to and learn from RealEstateCore, as our vision and strategy are aligned,” says Pippola. “Joining the REC Consortium increases collaboration within the industry so we can make a bigger impact on buildings that are healthy for people, business, and the environment.”
