Challenge | My co-founder Evan Walker and I wanted to help save time and money for letting agents and landlords, by enabling them to fix property faster through better repair reporting and management.
You don’t get the opportunity to start an app everyday. Especially one so relevant to me – I’ve rented for over a decade. I could see the intrinsic value of the product, for both landlords and tenants.
Solution | It’s a great time for prop tech – people are willing to embrace and engage with new tools. The Mortr mobile and tablet app went live in the Apple and Google stores in May 2018. We launched the web version of the app at the same time. The way Mortr works is like this: landlords or agents add properties and invite tenants. They log repairs via the app, or your website. The landlord or agent can see the requested repairs and send them to tradespeople for quotes. They send you quotes, you approve the best one, and it gets fixed. Quick and simple.
Results | The app is fully functional and at this stage the feedback of stand alone landlords and medium sized letting agents is key to us. They see the value to their business and want us improve and evolve the platform for them.
By using Mortr, our users experience less back and forth ‘phone tennis’, and fewer voicemails. The time letting agent teams and landlords save on repairs can be used to manage more properties and generate more revenue.
We plan to develop Mortr into the best repair management tool on the market for property managers of all sizes.
