WATCH: Moda Living’s VR groundbreaking

Guests at the groundbreaking of Moda Living’s new development at Liverpool Waters, The Lexington, were given a snapshot of the future using VR technology.

Both those attending the Liverpool site in person and construction partners BCEGI in Beijing were able to take part simultaneously in the virtual groundbreaking using Oculus Rift headsets.

Before physically breaking ground on the site of the building, all guests were invited to view what the completed development would look like in situ, using photorealistic renders, a guide narrative and 360º sound effects to bring the building to life whilst charting the building process from the first spade in the ground right through to completion.

The VR experience was designed by Intermarketing, who used detailed CAD drawings of the building to create a digital version of The Lexington’s 34-storey architecture and facilities. It took 3 weeks to complete the project.

Lydia Eustace, group marketing manager at Moda, said of the project: “We’re thrilled with both the idea and the delivery by Intermarketing of our very own world first. From start to finish, they understood the significance of the project and came up with an impactful way to announce it to the world.”

The Lexington – named after its New York-inspired design – is part of Peel Land and Property’s £5bn Liverpool Waters regeneration project which will see the creation of five brand new neighbourhoods.

Once completed, The Lexington will offer 325 high quality homes designed exclusively for rent, with apartments ranging from studios to three-beds. All the apartments will be managed onsite – offering members premium, personal service which includes a 24-hour concierge.

Residents will also have access to over 15,000 sq. ft. of amenity space, including a 17th floor sky lounge, with outdoor dining kitchen and co-working space.

Among those present at the groundbreaking were representatives from Apache Capital (the London and middle Eastern Investment Management Firm), BCEGI, Peel Land and Property, Councillor James Noakes and the Chinese Consul General, Mr. Xiyuan Zheng.
