Spaceti wins MIPIM Startup Competition
Aakash Ravi, cofounder of the Internet of Things (IoT) startup, took away the first prize in the fourth annual MIPIM Startup Competition, organised in partnership with venture capital fund, MetaProp.
Spaceti offers an all-in-one platform for building digitisation that can work just as software, or together with sensors as a complete IoT solution.
As part of first prize, Spaceti also received automatic selection as a finalist for the MetaProp 2019 real estate technology accelerator program.
Second place went to Tatami, a modular housing system designed for sustainable international use; third place going to onTarget, a visual analytics software for the construction industry.
The competition has been a year-long journey for the finalists, having stopped by three cities for different tiers of the competition; Paris for MIPIM PropTech Europe, New-York for MIPIM Proptech New-York, and Hong-Kong for MIPIM Asia Summit, before the final today in Cannes.
All three winners will receive passes to future MIPIM events, as well brand exposure and coaching.
The finalists
- District is an artificial intelligence platform and mobile app that connects users to smart buildings. Vanessa Butz, CEO, announced a freemium model during her pitch, which means anyone in world can download the app for free, and test the tenant platform up to certain number of users

- Neoma is hotel platform, designed for helping hotel staff predict guests’ needs, by converting location data into value using Artificial Intelligence. Neoma claims it makes hotel services 8x more cost-effective
- Second place, OnTarget, uses predictive analytics and sensors to make construction sites “as efficient as an assembly line”, by automatically recommending users to hire more workers if progress slows, or by detecting accidents as they happen

- Sensorberg digitises buildings using a sensor-based system, which is open and hardware agnostic
- Tatami is a universal system of modular housing that is designed for international use, and aims to solve the affordable housing crisis
