As the real estate industry continues to innovate, we’re seeing a steady flow of significant names in tech hired in from giants such as Google and Microsoft.

Hq0

Tenant experience platform, Hq0, has announced the addition of 2 new hires; Mark Rosenthal as VP of marketing, sales & success, and Daniel Koh as partner.

Prior to joining the proptech company, which specialises in commercial real estate, Mark spent 8 years at Google with his last role as head of Google’s programmatic advertising sales for North America. He helped Google’s largest advertisers leverage machine learning and advertising automation.

Mark said: “When I considered the HqO founding team’s track record of success, plus the opportunity to help build a company that’s reshaping the real estate industry – it was a no brainer. Data is the new currency in business today, and we can help commercial real estate accelerate through data driven decisioning.”

Daniel Koh, comes from a political background in Boston having ran for US congress in Massachusetts, and served as chief of staff to the Boston Mayor where he had a ‘front-row seat’ to how Boston’s startup and tech community transformed people’s lives for the better.

A number of proptech funds back HqO, including JLL Spark, Navitas Capital, Pritzker Group Venture Capital and MetaProp.

Compass

Compass, a real estate brokerage and technology company, has hired ex-Microsoft Joseph Sirosh as chief technology officer.

Joseph will lead Compass’ engineering team and develop new Artificial Intelligence-powered products, as well as help scale Compass’ technology platform to capture global real estate supply and connect it to worldwide consumer demand.

Joseph is a big win for Compass as he was most recently chief technology officer of Artificial Intelligence at Microsoft, where he oversaw the development and expansion of Microsoft’s cloud AI and data products over the last five years.

Previous to Microsoft, he was an early innovator in Machine Learning at Amazon and built a variety of groups including a machine learning team and the Transaction Risk Management group.

“I’m excited to join Compass to transform the real estate experience through technology,” said Joseph. “Compass is a company with a once in a lifetime opportunity and when technologies like Artificial Intelligence are used to enhance the human experience, it can be a game changer. It will be a privilege leading this organization’s impressive technical team towards this new future.”

These hires follow JLL’s appointment of former Google executive Vinay Goel as chief digital product officer, and Matterport’s hiring of ex-Ebay RJ Pittman as CEO last year.
