Matterport, a leading 3D capture technology firm used by JLL, Marriott and Arup, has hired RJ Pittman to join as CEO.
RJ is an impressive gain for the 8-year-old proptech company; he’s a technology industry veteran who has served as chief product officer for Ebay, following leadership positions at Google and Apple.
The announcement coincides with a period of significant growth for Matterport, which has built 1.4 million 3D models, with 600 million model views and raised more than $70m in investment since the company started. The former CEO of Matterport, Bill Brown, will serve in an advisory capacity to RJ and the organisation.

Matterport’s platform allows real estate companies to quickly and easily create, modify, and distribute 3D models of real-world space. This has allowed the company to collect a large amount of 3D space data for industries including real estate, architecture, construction, insurance, hospitality and more. The company uses this data to drive its AI and deep learning algorithms to create impressive digital reconstructions of physical spaces.
