EDGE’s Erik Ubels joins Amsterdam Trend Talk speaker list

Erik Ubels, chief technology officer of smart building pacesetter EDGE Technologies, will be speaking at PlaceTech Trend Talk Amsterdam next month.

EDGE is part of Dutch developer OVG Real Estate and is focused on developing ‘superior buildings that actively contribute to the health of people and the world.’

Ubels joins Linda Chandler, smart cities advisor and co-founder of LIQUID Real Estate Innovation, and Andy Dyer, co-founder of commercial property data platform, Coyote Software, as the latest speakers confirmed for the next PlaceTech Trend Talk, in Amsterdam on 17 July.

PlaceTech Trend Talk Amsterdam is the second in our series of quarterly breakfast briefings taking place across the UK and Europe, getting under the skin of the latest names and predictions in the ever-growing proptech market.

Ubels started his career at Royal Philips Electronics as electronics product engineer. While studying computer science he moved on to KPMG, after five years joining what would become Deloitte. At Deloitte he was part of the team responsible for the first global digital audit system. As CIO for IT and facilities management at Deloitte, Ubels worked closely with OVG to realise The Edge building in Amsterdam. Since January 2016, he has been CTO at OVG Real Estate.

LindaLinda Chandler co-founded Liquid Real Estate Innovation with Dan Hughes, to drive change in property and provide transformation and innovation consultancy to property companies. Linda also founded Hyperlocal Cities in 2017, which aims to solve long-term urban challenges, and she previously worked for Microsoft for a decade, and led Microsoft’s the smart city agenda in Asia Pacific. Prior to this, she was CIO for the London Development Agency, previously a functional body of the Mayor of London. Linda will discuss emerging ideas around smart cities including workspace trends, their impacts on the market and the data value of the built environment.

Andy Dyer CoyoteAndy Dyer co-founded Coyote Software with Oli Farago in 2009. Based in London and experiencing a period of rapid growth, the firm produces a cloud-based data platform that helps property and investment managers analyse potential opportunities and get more value from their data. Andy will be providing a showcase of the software, the story of its development and its adoption in the market.

Roger Tan, managing director and board member of UNSense, the arch-tech company founded by UNStudio. UNSense explores and develops technology to humanise the built environment, working to improve quality of life through social innovation. A previous managing partner of Broekbakema Architects, Tan also has a background in finance and computer science.

 

Sander Verseput

Pitch demonstrations will be included from Chainels, the tenant engagement portal for shopping centres, high streets, business parks and multi-tenant buildings. Hear from co-founder Sander Verseput on how the company deals with security, facilities, governance and tenant communication.

 

Dick FensFrom Simaxx, CEO Dick Fens will discuss the latest in building management technology, and how Simaxx turns a constant stream of data from buildings into useful information for its clients based on smart algorithms, improving performance and reducing costs.

 

The Amsterdam briefing will be held at the Kimpton de Witt Hotel on Tuesday 17 July, starting at 8am for breakfast networking, and ending by 10.30am.
