Colliers accelerator appoints MD

Colliers International and Techstars, a worldwide network for entrepreneurs, have announced that technology industry veteran, Ben Liao, has joined as managing director of the Colliers Proptech Accelerator, the fund launched in January by the global property advisor and powered by Techstars.

Liao will work with Colliers and Techstars management to develop a network of mentors, investors, sponsors, investors and corporate partners. The accelerator companies will take part in a 13-week programme starting in September to develop disruptive and innovative technology in the property and real estate industry. This will conclude with a demo day on 5 December where the startups will pitch their ideas to worldwide investors at a gathering in Toronto, Canada.

Ultimately, uncovering and shaping enterprising proptech solutions will help accelerate the success of Colliers’ clients and professionals.”

Liao was previously part of the senior leadership team at Ritual, a venture-backed technology company, focusing on creating growth strategies across the US and globally, and leading national partnerships focused on new market entry. Prior to that he held management and leadership positions in organisations ranging from startups to large enterprises with a focus on investing, business development, strategy and strategic partnerships.
