Robert Cartwright will be joining Hana, a subsidiary of CBRE opening in 2019 which will help property owners meet the demand for flexible office space, as chief operating officer.
Robert, who spent 20 years at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, one of the largest hotel companies in the world, under the St. Regis, W, Westin and Sheraton brands, will have overall responsibility for global operations of all Hana locations, including build efforts, personnel management and hospitality service.
The prominence of hospitality in the offices sector is forecast to grow, by British Land among others, and Robert’s hire reinforces this. Companies want better workplace experience to attract and retain top talent. It’s no longer about providing a desk in a square room and landlords are beginning to respond to that and provide a more ‘hotel-like’ experience.
Cartwright will be able to bring his deep expertise in hospitality to the new role, as well as coworking expertise as well as he previously served as senior vice president of global operations for WeWork in addition to a variety of hospitality and experience leadership positions at the company.
Andrew Kupiec, CEO of Hana, said: “Hana empowers accomplishment through thoughtful design, warm and courteous service and a comfortable environment that adapts to meet the needs of members. Robert’s unique combination of hands-on success in developing the coworking category and his deep experience running high-performing teams in high-touch hospitality industries is a perfect fit for Hana.”
Hana will offer 3 solutions: Hana Team, Hana Meet and Hana Share. Hana Team will provide private customisable office suites to meet the needs of organisations with 15 to over 300 employees; Hana Meet will offer conference and event room space that can be rented on an hourly, daily or weekly basis; Hana Share will offer shared desks and coworking environments ideal for small teams and freelancers.
