The surveyor is piloting a wellbeing initiative delivered via a mobile app with tenants at buildings it manages in Liverpool. The aim is to encourage healthier and more physically active workplaces.
Over the past few years there’s been a significant shift to provide tenants with solutions to encourage better wellbeing for staff in an ever-growing health-conscious society.
CBRE partnered with Virtuathon to deliver the ‘CBRE Workplace Virtuathon’ to employees in selected buildings beginning on Monday 4 June.
The Virtuathon is an eight-week programme delivered via the mobile app, Get Event Fit, which provides daily guidance, education, and motivation that finishes with a 5K or 10K run – people run at the location and time of their choice – over the weekend of 28 and 29 July.
People who complete the challenge receive a medal and CPD points with the benefit for tenants of a potentially happier and more engaged workforce. Over 100 employees have already registered from more than 20 companies.
Participating employees will receive exercise workouts with videos, physical activity education, recovery advice, yoga, nutrition education, healthy eating recipes, positive mindset advice, meditation, employee wellbeing education and much more to inspire them throughout their eight-week journey.
The programme is associated with standards set by the Workplace Wellbeing Charter and the suggested Five Ways to Mental Wellbeing set out in the Government’s Foresight report by the New Economics Foundation; Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give.
The buildings taking part are Royal Liver Building, Liverpool Innovation Park, Castle Chambers, One Derby Square, City Square. Andrew Willoughby, asset services director at CBRE, commented: “At CBRE, we are committed to providing a work environment that attracts, develops and retains the best people and celebrates the professional success of every individual. The CBRE Workplace Virtuathon is a fantastic initiative to help businesses in our buildings inspire their employees to become more physically active and live healthier lifestyles, both in and out of the workplace.”
Chris Mitchell, managing director of Virtuathon, commented: “I am very excited by our collaboration with CBRE. We are passionate about encouraging health in the workplace as it is so closely linked to employees’ physical and mental wellbeing, performance and motivation. Workplace Virtuathon makes it very easy for employees, irrespective of their location, to get active and healthier with the full support of an eight-week wellbeing programme delivered daily via their mobile app.”
