Job description

  • The HomeRenter team is recruiting for a talented and energetic lettings professional to join our proptech start-up located near Clapham Junction just off the river in South West London
  • This is a new role for us at HomeRenter. The Lettings Manager role is to develop the processes within the lettings team and to train and guide future lettings executives in their day to day roles
  • Initially the role will be a singleton role, but the ambition is to build out the lettings team as the user base scales up
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrable ambitions to grow into the role of a customer / operations team lead within an ambitious start-up

About the company

  • HomeRenter is a next generation lettings marketplace for private landlords, prospective tenants, trusted tradesmen and our community of key holders. Our vision is to create a fairer, more equitable online marketplace for the UK’s private landlords and renters that leads to a happier renting experience for all concerned
  • At HomeRenter we believe the traditional lettings agent model is outdated and expensive for landlords and tenants alike. Indeed, often the whole experience of renting is fragmented and characterised by a mistrust between agents, landlords and their tenants. By contrast the HomeRenter platform offers landlords and tenants a transparent, one-stop-shop for managing the entire rental process from tenant find to digital signature of lease and a virtual management
  • We are a privately funded company and have already secured a seed investment round from Trinity Mirror, the UK news publisher

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be liaising directly with and supporting our growing base of private landlord customers to assist the full cycle of lettings related user needs; from advice on valuation and listing presentation; through to tenant enquiry management, referencing and on-boarding; and onto property management and renewals

  • You’ll be working in this traditional field but with the assistance of new software and one of the latest technology-empowered platforms designed to simplify the rental sector
  • You will be one of the voices of the user at the coal-face of the team effort, and take pains to ensure valuable user feedback is captured, championed and represented in the evolution of the product
  • You’ll be a category expert within the company, training the Lettings team to become more knowledgeable on legislation and ensure that they are operating in the best interest of the landlord and tenant
  • You will be prepared to role up your sleeves and assist the Marketing function with acquisition ideas and collaborate on social media content
  • You’ll be working in a cross-functional team, but operating autonomously to drive customer satisfaction and user feedback from our customer base, but in conjunction with Product, Design and Development colleagues

About you

  • You have at least two years direct experience of managing the lettings user cycle; from valuation and tenant find; to tenant progression and administration; through to direct management
  • You will have developed this experience typically in the lettings division of a high street agency or perhaps an online estate agency and you’ll have relevant industry qualifications
  • You will be an expert on the UK private rental sector and up-to-speed with the latest regulatory issues affecting the industry, such as Section 24, GDPR and the tenant fees ban
  • You are a creative, passionate, and intelligent person who loves disruptive new media brands and is a natural problem solver
  • You’re excited by the opportunity to shape the future of the lettings sector and care about a creating a community-driven platform
  • Your interests go beyond just your team’s objectives; you are curious about where the organisation is moving as a whole
  • You have a strong interest in growing your skills and gaining exposure to team leader level duties
  • You will be degree educated (even better if this is in a related field such as business, property management, real estate, architecture etc)

What’s in it for you?

Competitive package, £20,000 – £30,000 including generous early stage equity (range depends on experience)

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Ongoing training and exposure to latest industry seminars, training and events
  • Flat hierarchy and flexible environment – you’ll work directly with the CEO, Co-Founders, UX Designer, Product Manager and Lead Developer
  • The team are based in spacious offices just off the river, shared with our parent company and, occasionally, the team’s dogs Coco and RockStar
  • HomeRenter HQ offers bike storage, showers, daily fresh fruit and Friday courtesy end of week beers
