Join Hill Dickinson at a seminar chaired by property partner Jim Garton to explore the challenges of building on a floodplain and to offer a genuine solution to overcome the many obstacles required to deliver a successful new
development on such land.

The weeks of storms in January and February this year re-ignited the debate over whether to build on floodplains, with a growing number of voices claiming that they should be a ‘no go zone’ for much needed new housing.

Welcoming guest speakers, we will discuss:

  • Flood Re, why it won’t necessarily solve all the problems
  • The current planning policy framework for development in areas of flood risk
  • The insurer and the problems of uninsured risk exposure
  • The Innovative flood management scheme and the construction of flood resilient “Can-Float” homes
