Concrete VC and JLL join Trend Talk line-up

Concrete VC venture partner Chris Stephenson and a senior representative at JLL’s NXT Office will join the speakers at the next PlaceTech Trend Talk, due to be held in London next month.

Already confirmed were Darryll Colthrust, director of innovation at Palmer Capital, Dominic Grace, Savills director and head of London residential development, and Dustin Strydom, automation lead at Open Box.

The theme of the event will be how property companies are handling the move into the tech era. Hear their take on the latest innovations and network with senior professionals from property and technology at this half-day event on 31 October.

Chris Stephenson is a venture partner at specialist proptech fund, Concrete VC, which is backed by US investment giant Starwood Capital, Swedish developer-contractor Skanska, retail developer Hammerson, insurer Lockton and industrial specialist Segro. The Concrete fund has invested in a host of proptech startups including Homie, Travtus, District Technologies, Hubble, OpenSensors.io, Beagle, Measurabl and Buildsafe.

Chris has 20 years’ experience in property, having previously been managing director of AIG Global Real Estate and overseeing a multi-billion Euro portfolio across Europe. He will give insight into what the firm is expecting in the near future, and the companies to watch.

JLL launched NXT Office, an immersive technology aimed at revolutionising how occupiers search for new office space across London, earlier this year. Based at the JLL HQ in London, and using a combination of tech including Virtual Reality, NXT Office offers a digital experience for occupiers to visualise different spaces and make better informed decisions. A senior representative will discuss how the office market is changing with technology and what we can expect next.

Dustin Strydom, of South Africa-headquartered Open Box Software, will explain the evolving role of AI in property transactions and showcase some of his firm’s work. There will be further presentations from tech firms, details to be announced shortly.
